Carillion has made strong progress during the year in integrating sustainability and safety across its businesses, and we are seeing some award-winning results. Focused leadership on this agenda, in the Middle East and elsewhere, has produced both inspiration and innovation – and a real impact on employees, clients and the wider society.

In the UK, some of the community investment programmes resulting from major contracts are showing impressive results on skills development and educational impact, and illustrate the importance to Carillion of practical, focused work at community level. One of the much quoted examples of the Big Society – in Balsall Heath – owes much to the foresight of Carillion leadership!

Carillion, through John McDonough‘s strong leadership, is now focused on developing the stretching targets for the businesses, which will ensure that Carillion is achieving sustainable results through innovative leadership in the decade to 2020.
